Natural State Expo, Satuday October 13, 2007:
Audubon Arkansas participated in the Natural State Expo on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at the Statehouse Convention Center. The Natural State Expo is an annual one-day exhibition for green technology, sustainable business, community resources, and innovation in Arkansas.

Fourche Creek Watershed Stream Assessment, 2006-2007:
From March 2006 to April 2007 Audubon Arkansas spent two days in the field each week assessing human impacts on streams in the Fourche Creek Watershed. Results of this work can be viewed on our Fourche Creek Reports page and on the maps page.

Fourche Creek Bottoms Biological Inventory, 2006-2007:
Audubon conducted biological inventories to assess the health and population sizes of animals within the 2,000 acre Fourche Bottms Park in Little Rock. The results of these surveys can be found on our Fourche Creek Reports page.

Fourche Creek Watershed Appreciation Day, 9/8/07:
Fourche Creek Watershed Appreciation Day was held Saturday, September 8, 2007 from 4:00-8:00 PM at War Memorial Park in Little Rock. Numerous exhibitors had booths with information on their work in and around the Fourche Creek Watershed.

Audubon Arkansas / Tree Streets Tree Planting:
This winter Audubon Arkansas and Tree Streets, a local non-profit organization, teamed up to plant 280 native trees along streets in the Swaggerty Creek Watershed in an area south of downtown Little Rock.

Coleman Creek Restoration Ground Breaking
On Thursday July 19, 2007, Audubon Arkansas joined forces with UALR, FTN, and the city of Little Rock to initiate the beginning of the Coleman Creek restoration project, which will help restore and beautify the great city of Little Rock back to its "natural state". Clearing Fourche Creek, May 2007:
Audubon Arkansas staff spent a day clearing fallen trees from Fourche Creek for unobstructed canoe and kayak passage.

Spring 2007 - Arkansas Meadow-rue Search:
The Arkansas meadow-rue, a globally sensitive species of plant, was recently found along Fourche Creek. More info here.

Waterfest 2007:
Stephanie Hymel and Johnnie Chamberlin ran a Water Quality Enviroscape demonstration at Lakewood Middle School as part of Waterfest. The four hour festival reached 700 middle school students and taught them about water quality issues and the importance of clean water to humans and all other living beings.

Spring 2007 - Rock Creek Restoration Projects
This spring, Audubon Arkansas began work on two projects along Rock Creek. In one project, we stabilized 200 feet of streambank and planted native trees, shrubs, forbs, grasses, and wildflowers. At another site we conducted erosion prevention and habitat improvements on a small side stream of Rock Creek. More on these and other projects can be found on our Fourche Creek Projects page.

Hindman Park Cleanup- November 4, 2006
Audubon Arkansas, with help from Teresa Elkins-Cavaness of Keep Arkansas Beautiful and Natalie Crumb of Allied Waste, conducted a stream clean up along Fourche Creek at Hindman Park in Little Rock on November 4th, 2006.

Spring 2006 - Fourche Creek Reforestation Projects
This Spring Audubon Arkansas planted hundreds of trees in several Little Rock city parks including: Hindman, Otter Creek, Gillam, and Interstate Park. These cypress, water oak, willow oak, Nutall oak, and tupelo will provide habitat for birds and other animals and help prevent erosion in the Fourche Creek Watershed.

February 16th and 17th, 2006 - Leaky Sewer Line Fixed
While conducting the Unified Stream Assessment of Coleman Creek, a tributary of Fourche Creek, Johnnie Chamberlin and Kate Finefield came across a leaking elevated sewer line that crossed Coleman Creek. Upon further inspection they found a large hole in the pipe and reported it to Little Rock Wastewater Utility. Audubon Arkansas employees were on site the next day to observe workers from the LRWU replacing the broken section of pipe and removing visible sewage from the stream channel.

December 14th, 2005
Three groups of University of Central Arkansas (UCA) students gave presentations of their work on the Fourche Creek Watershed. The presentations covered Environmental Education at Henderson Middle School, Water Quality in Fourche Creek During Storm Events, and Biodiversity of the Lake in Gillam Park.

November 14 & 21, 2005
Audubon Arkansas conducted a clean-up at Gillam Park November 14th and 21st. Working with the City of Little Rock, we removed dozens of tires and several large piles of illegally dumped construction materials.

Birchwood Park Work Days – Summer 2005
Audubon Arkansas conducted several work days at Birchwood Park. Employees and volunteers planted dozens of native trees and shrubs, installed bat and bird boxes, and erected educational kiosks.

J.A. Fair HS Fourche Creek Festival - April 21, 2005
J. A. Fair High School hosted a Fourche Creek Festival to share student projects about Fourche Creek.

Electrofishing and Tissue Sampling of Fourche Creek Fish - May 19, 2005
The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and Audubon Arkansas team up to sample fish and check for toxicity in fish tissues.
