Hindman Park Cleanup
Audubon Arkansas, with help from Teresa Elkins-Cavaness of Keep Arkansas Beautiful and Natalie Crumb of Allied Waste, conducted a stream clean up along Fourche Creek at Hindman Park in Little Rock on November 4th, 2006. With the help of 4 volunteers and 2 Audubon employees, we cleaned up pollution that netted 42 bags of trash, one 55 gallon container, nine tires, four 5-gallon buckets, two propane tanks, two sofa cushions, one lawn chair and one battery. We provided refreshments and equipment, Keep Arkansas Beautiful provided trash bags and rewards to volunteers and Allied Waste provided a 20-yard container for waste collection and pick up. A special thanks goes out to all of the volunteers who surrendered their time to help out the environment. Hopefully we will be doing more clean ups along this heavily polluted stream in the near future.
